We are pleased to announce significant progress in our Master Parks Plan process. Once completed, the plan will present a vision for the futures of Market Square/Veteran’s Park, Seal Park, and Bradenbaugh Park.
The preliminary plans are posted at the bottom of the page. If you would like to offer any feedback or if you have any questions, please contact us.
The planning process began as Borough officials and various stakeholders were discussing various changes to the park. For example, there had been talk of replacing the Christmas Tree in Veteran’s Park, adding restroom facilities to Bradenbaugh and addressing ADA concerns at Seal Park. Rather than doing projects piecemeal, it was decided to commission a full set of plans for each park. It is also important to note that grant funding tends to go toward projects that are included in a master plan such as this.
Millersburg Borough secured a grant through the Pennsylvania Department of Conservation and Natural Resources (DCNR) to offset the costs of developing the plan. The Borough solicited proposals and ultimately hired JMT of York to develop the plan, under the guidance of a Local Study Committee.
JMT has met with the local study committee, various park stakeholders and Millersburg citizens to solicit public input. We expect to wrap up work on the plan later this year. We will then move on to implementing the recommendations in the plan.
A similar plan was previously developed for Riverfront Park and MYO Park. You can read that plan at this link or review a hard copy at the Borough Office.
